Launch Update | UMETASS Kicks Off FSSC 22000 Certification Program

This week, Nanjing Shuishan Technology Co., Ltd. (UMETASS) officially launched the FSSC 22000 certification program. Earlier in June 2025, we achieved ISO 22000:2018 certification, underscoring our long-term commitment to disciplined production, consistent quality, and trustworthy food safety in food-grade plastic packaging.

Built on the ISO management framework, FSSC 22000 integrates ISO 22000 as the core FSMS standard, sector-specific PRPs, and FSSC additional requirements. Version 6 (V6) is recognized by GFSI and has been mandatory since 1 April 2024.

For food and feed packaging manufacturing, our program is aligned with the Packaging Manufacturing PRP requirements to strengthen the following:

· Hygienic design and maintenance of facilities and equipment

· Personnel and visitor controls; cleaning and protective measures

· Allergen and foreign-matter control

· Storage, distribution, traceability and recall readiness

· Supplier management and change control

· Internal audit and continual improvement

A1  FSSC 22000 builds on ISO 22000 with sector PRPs and additional requirements (e.g., environmental monitoring, equipment management, food defense, quality control) and is GFSI-recognized, enhancing global customer acceptance.

Q2 (EN) What packaging-related control points are in scope?

A2  Hygienic facility/equipment design, personnel/visitor controls, allergen/foreign-matter control, storage & distribution, traceability, supplier/change control, internal audit & continual improvement.

Q3 (EN) What is the implementation timeline for V6?

A3  V6 has been mandatory since 1 April 2024. We will conduct gap analysis, implement controls, run internal audits, and complete third-party certification.

A4  Internationally recognized FSMS assurance that reduces supply risk, increases compliance transparency and traceability, and supports audits/retailer acceptance.

Q5 (EN) Will this affect current orders and lead times?

A5  We will implement without disrupting production. If any changes (e.g., documentation or labeling) are required, we will notify customers in advance and keep deliveries on schedule.
