A bottle selected for a chemical liquid is more than a container body: the opening, cap, fill volume and shipping configuration all matter. At UMETASS, we offer two narrow-mouth HDPE families that make these choices concrete. Our square range covers eight nominal sizes from 20 to 500 mL; our round range covers ten sizes from 12 mL to 1 L. Both families pair an HDPE body with a PP cap, and our HDPE bottle range includes models for chemical and laboratory use. For formalin, formaldehyde solutions, ethanol and other liquids, these are practical formats to explore in light of the actual formulation and shipment requirements.
Our square bottle gives you a defined front panel for the product name, concentration, batch code and hazard label. We offer it in 20, 30, 40, 60, 100, 120, 250 and 500 mL nominal sizes. The first three have a 16 mm internal mouth diameter; the remaining sizes have a 19.8 mm opening. Each pairs an HDPE body with a PP cap. Depending on the size, the listed color options include translucent brown and selected white or black variants. We recommend comparing this compact format when your sample or smaller-volume chemical pack needs a clear front-facing label.
Our round family adds 12, 15 and 25 mL choices, then continues through 30, 50, 60, 100, 250, 500 mL and 1 L. Internal mouth diameters are 13–13.5 mm on the 12–100 mL models, 20.8 mm on the 250–500 mL models and 28 mm on the 1 L model. The round wall provides a continuous label surface, while the smallest sizes suit compact sample packs and controlled portions. On our website, the relevant round chemical-liquid bottles are presented as HDPE bottles with narrow mouths and standard screw caps; see our 100 mL round bottle.
We label these sizes by nominal capacity, which is not the same as a guaranteed usable fill volume. Our specifications list brimful capacity separately: the 100 mL square bottle is 112.2 mL brimful, while the 100 mL round bottle is 127 mL. This difference makes bottle geometry and the planned fill level more useful than the SKU name alone when selecting a pack.
For liquids that will be moved, handled and opened repeatedly, we often start the format discussion with a smaller neck. It limits the exposed opening during pouring or dispensing and gives the cap a relatively compact mouth to close over. In our range, the 100 mL round bottle has a 13.5 mm internal opening; the 100 mL square bottle has a 19.8 mm opening. We would consider the round option for a narrower dispensing path and the square option when a broader opening and flat branding panel are more useful. Neither geometry is universally better.
We treat the opening as one part of the finished package, alongside the cap, any liner or inner seal, closing torque, fill level, temperature and outer packaging. A narrow-mouth bottle is not automatically approved for dangerous-goods transport. If a shipment is regulated, its dangerous-goods classification and applicable packaging requirements govern the final pack. U.S. hazardous-material packaging rules, for example, address secure closure and leakage during normal transport conditions; they do not make a bottle compliant solely because its mouth is narrow. We keep this distinction clear for ethanol and formaldehyde-containing liquids.
In our HDPE bottle category, you can explore chemical-bottle models alongside the two narrow-mouth series detailed here. For these series, we specify HDPE bottle bodies and PP caps. We also list screen printing across the narrow-mouth models, so product identification can appear directly on the container.
We also offer PP bottles, including wide-mouth, graduated reagent bottles with screw caps. Our 250 mL PP reagent bottle is a round, wide-mouth example. We would compare it with the narrow-mouth HDPE families when access and visible graduations matter more than a smaller opening. Our current PP category does not present an identical narrow-mouth counterpart to the specifications below, so we discuss body material and mouth size as separate choices.
When we discuss these applications, we distinguish the liquids rather than treating them as one hazard class. Ethanol is flammable; PubChem lists it as highly flammable. “Formalin” generally refers to a formaldehyde solution, whose composition and classification can change with concentration and stabilizer. We do not equate that solution with neat formaldehyde or with ethanol. The safety data sheet for the actual formulation establishes its hazards and transport classification.
We can discuss both HDPE and PP as candidate bottle materials for these product categories. The appropriate bottle-and-cap combination still depends on concentration, additives, contact time, temperature and storage position. Good performance with one ethanol formulation or formalin concentration does not establish performance with every formula. For regulated or higher-risk shipments, we recommend assessing a sample filled with the actual product as a finished package, including its closure and secondary packaging.
For very small samples, we offer 12–30 mL round bottles with 13–13.5 mm internal openings. Our square range begins at 20 mL, with a 16 mm internal opening and a front-facing label panel. At 50–120 mL, our round options retain a narrower mouth than the comparable square sizes. At 250 and 500 mL, the two ranges are closer: 19.8 mm for square bottles and 20.8 mm for round bottles. Our 1 L round bottle has a 28 mm internal mouth and a substantially larger body. These dimensional differences help us narrow the format to the way your product will be filled, labeled and dispensed.
Square and round shapes also change the labeling and carton layout. We use the flat square face to organize concentration and hazard information; our round bottles offer a continuous circumference for label design. Our specifications include cap height, bottle dimensions and label height across both families, so the artwork can be designed around the actual pack. For transport projects, a sample using the selected cap and fill provides the right basis for any shipping assessment required by the route and classification.
We can help you compare our square and round narrow-mouth HDPE sizes, matching PP caps, listed color variants and screen-printed identification. If easier filling, access or visible graduations matter more, our PP reagent-bottle category gives you another format to consider. Share your liquid formulation, planned nominal fill, preferred opening, cap style, label artwork and transport route, and we can narrow the options to a specific bottle-and-cap configuration.
The chart below brings our 18 listed square and round sizes together. All models have an HDPE bottle body and a PP cap, with screen printing listed as an option. The nominal-size column identifies product models; brimful capacities are separate measurements, not recommended filling volumes. Dimensions are in millimeters unless otherwise noted.

No single statement covers every formalin formulation. Ethanol is flammable, while formalin's classification depends on its concentration and stabilizer. Use the safety data sheet for the actual product.
No. It is a useful structural preference for some liquid packs, but the finished package, closure, classification and route-specific requirements determine transport suitability.
Our round series begins at 12 mL nominal capacity; our square series begins at 20 mL.
No. In both of our narrow-mouth series, the bottle body is HDPE and the cap is PP.
