For a food brand, an easy-open bucket must do two jobs that can seem contradictory: open without tools when the customer needs it, yet stay securely closed beforehand. UMETASS designed its LC polypropylene (PP) bucket family around that combination. The round bucket, closely matched rim and lid, and an “OPEN”-marked break tab work together as one package. The LC series spans 300 mL to 10 L in 14 nominal sizes, with white and clear as its standard colors. This is a specific packaging platform, not a generic bucket with a loose lid.
The range gives food processors, co-packers and brands a versatile bucket format for beverages, soups, prepared foods, sauces, honey, frozen foods and dry products. Its capacity range, easy-open closure and customization options let a brand build several pack sizes around the same recognizable LC design.
The nominal capacities are 300 mL, 500 mL, 750 mL, 900 mL, 1 L, 1.5 L, 2 L, 2.5 L, 3 L, 4 L, 5 L, 6 L, 8 L and 10 L. That is 14 specifications across a 300 mL–10 L range. The smaller tubs can carry single-use or compact retail portions; the middle sizes support larger branded packs; and the upper end gives a brand more volume without leaving the LC format. Nominal volume is container capacity, not a promise about the net weight of any particular soup, paste, powder or snack.
White and clear are the regular color choices. Clear makes contents visible, while white provides an opaque background for artwork. Other colors can be discussed as custom work. The round PP wall offers a continuous decoration area, but artwork dimensions and handle clearance differ by mold. A 300 mL label should not simply be enlarged onto a 10 L bucket. Buyers developing a multi-size line can retain one brand system while adjusting artwork to the actual printable area of each size.
The LC family has a round molded body and a fitted lid, with handle choices depending on the size and configuration. The lid-to-rim interface deserves particular attention: it is where closing force, opening access and liquid containment meet. A white or clear bucket should therefore be reviewed as an assembled pack, with its intended lid and any chosen handle, rather than as an empty body alone.
Before first opening, the tab marked “OPEN” covers the notch where a finger can lift the lid. To open the bucket, the user pushes the tab outward by hand. Its two side connections break, uncovering the lid-lifting notch. The user can then lift off the lid without cutting around the entire rim or using a separate tool. The ease of access comes from this deliberate opening path and the precisely fitted bucket mouth and lid; it is not created by making the closed lid loose.
The broken tab is also a visible first-opening indicator. A customer can see whether its side connections are intact or have been broken. UMETASS designed the tab so its bottom remains attached to the bucket body after opening. The tab therefore does not become a detached piece of plastic to collect or discard, and the package keeps a more complete appearance. This retained-tab design combines convenient opening with a clear tamper-evident signal.
The break tab and the seal have different jobs. The tab controls and signals first access; the precise fit between the lid and bucket rim creates a reliable closed package. Many UMETASS customers have confirmed the LC series' sealing performance through everyday use with beverages, soups, prepared foods, sauces and honey. Easy opening does not come at the expense of liquid containment. For a product with especially demanding sealing requirements, testing filled samples before a bulk order remains a practical step.
After opening, the lid can be put back on for further use. The broken tab continues to show that the bucket has been opened, while the full-width mouth makes it easy to scoop, pour or serve the contents.
The LC PP series withstands temperatures up to 120°C and supports high-temperature steam sterilization. It also lets customers reheat foods such as soup in a microwave. At the other end of the temperature range, LC buckets resist cracking in freezing conditions and support frozen storage and cold-chain transportation. A food brand can therefore use this product family for applications that involve heating, freezing or movement between production, storage and the point of use.
LC offers optional vent membranes, straws and film-covered lids for different product concepts. A vent membrane supports applications that need air exchange; a straw creates a convenient drinking format; and a film-covered lid provides another way to present and open the pack. These options make the same LC family useful across more food and beverage applications.
UMETASS also offers one-stop decoration for LC buckets: pressure-sensitive labels, screen printing, heat-transfer printing, in-mold labeling (IML), offset printing and laser marking. White and clear base colors can be combined with the chosen lid, handle and artwork to create a consistent appearance across several capacities. The UMETASS printing-process page shows examples of its decoration capabilities.
UMETASS can provide EU food-contact, REACH and PPWR-related product test and supporting documents for LC projects. Together with the range of capacities, closure features and customization options, this documentation supports food brands and packaging teams developing products for European markets.
Fourteen nominal sizes run from 300 mL to 10 L. White and clear are the regular colors; ask UMETASS about custom colors for the selected size.
No. Its side connections break to reveal the lifting notch, while its bottom stays attached to the bucket body.
Yes. The lid and bucket rim provide reliable sealing for everyday liquid products, including beverages, soups, sauces and honey. Many UMETASS customers have confirmed this in actual use. For especially demanding sealing requirements, test filled samples before a bulk order.
